History

Calvary Chapel can trace its history back to 1868. The first sixty-two years were spent in association with the Methodist Conference. Then came four years of silence as the church was closed.

In the spring of 1935 there was renewed interest as a special rally was held. The interest grew into the reorganization of the church as an independent Bible-believing church. A new name was chosen and since then Calvary Chapel has been faithfully proclaiming the Good News of eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ. Calvary Chapel in Canterbury, CT, has no affiliation with the Calvary Chapel movement out of Costa Mesa.
